What is Natulatte’s story?
At Natulatte we have a mission: a free and happy life for people and animals. That was Astrid van Santen’s motivation when she founded Natulatte in 2019 to make the instant powders in coffee machines around the world plant-based. Until 2021 it was not possible to get a plant-based cappuccino, latte or hot chocolate from the coffee machine. Natulatte has passionately changed this and supply a delicious vegetable Oat topping and Cacaomix for the business coffee machine.

Why a plant-based product?
Plant-based food is better for the environment, animal welfare and for your own health (source: Voedingcentrum.nl).
Better for the environment
Food production is demanding on the world resources. Producing food costs a lot of water and forest and nature are lost. In addition, there is pollution from manure. By taking in less meat and dairy you help the environment. A plant-based diet reduces land use, CO2 emissions and water use, which is better for our planet!
Better for your health
It is also beneficial for your health to eat more plant-based foods. You have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
Better for animals
Whether it’s pigs, cows, chickens or fish, intensive livestock farming and fishing causes unnecessary suffering to billions of animals every year. These are all sentient beings with social skills and the will to live. A plant-based diet reduces the number of animals living in these conditions.
Most of the meat and dairy products consumed come from factory farms. In these farms, many animals do not get enough space and sometimes not even enough sunlight.
Why powder?
Powder is lightweight, has a very long shelf life and does not need to be kept refrigerated. It is precisely because of the powder form that the product can be distributed much more efficiently and environmentally friendly. As a result, emissions through transport and cooling are significantly reduced. Because the products have a very long shelf life, it prevents food waste.
Water has been extracted from the ingredients through a special process, so that only the dry matter remains.
Powdered milk is one of the most used ingredients in today’s food market: you can find it in chips, bread, pastries, candies, soups… everywhere! A good reason why plant-based powdered milk is needed.
Why oats?
We have deliberately chosen to develop our topping and cocoa mix based on oats. After much research, we discovered this is the preferred taste when choosing a plant-based alternative to milk. Our gluten-free oats originate from Germany.
Are your products organic?
No, our products are not organic.
Are your products lactose-free?
Our products are lactose free. Although the products are plant-based, there is a risk of cross-contamination with milk from our manufacturer and our packaging is marked ‘packed in a factory that processes milk proteins’.
Are your products gluten free?
Our products are gluten free. All ingredients used do not contain gluten. Gluten-free oats are used for both the topping and the cocoa mix.
Do animals have to die for milk?
Like any mammal, cows only produce milk after pregnancy. To ensure that the cow continues to produce enough milk, she is artificially impregnated every year. After 9 months of gestation, her calf is removed almost immediately after birth so that her milk can be used exclusively for human consumption. The calves are given artificial milk to drink. The female calves are used in milk production, just like their mother. The bulls are fattened and slaughtered as a ‘by-product’ of the dairy industry.
A cow has her first calf when she is about 2 years old. She then gives birth to a calf every year, to keep milk production going. Cows that can’t keep up with this fast pace are called “wearers” and are slaughtered at 3 or 4 years of age. An average dairy cow now lives to be 6 years old, while it used to be 10 years old. A cow can live to be twenty years old in natural conditions.
